Protesters by the Thousands Rally Against Trump Across the U.S.
On Saturday, thousands of protesters gathered in Washington and several other cities throughout the United States to express their dissent against President Donald Trump's policies regarding deportations, government firings, and the conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine.

Over 700 events were organized as part of the 50501 movement, a grassroots campaign advocating for nationwide protests. Hunter Dunn, a spokesperson for the movement, characterized the group as a "pro-democracy, pro-Constitution, anti-executive-overreach, nonviolent grassroots movement."
At the White House, demonstrators held banners that proclaimed "Workers should have the power," "Stop arming Israel," and "Due process," based on reports from media coverage.
Many protesters voiced support for migrants targeted by the Trump administration for deportation while also standing in solidarity with individuals who had been fired by the federal government and with universities facing funding threats from Trump.
"As Trump and his administration mobilize the use of the U. S. deportation machine, we are going to organize networks and systems of resistance to defend our neighbors," a protester asserted at a rally in Lafayette Square near the White House.
Others flew Palestinian flags and donned keffiyeh scarves, chanting "free Palestine" and mourning the loss of Palestinian lives amidst Israel's conflict in Gaza.
Some participants showcased their support for Ukraine, calling on Washington to take a stronger stance against Russia's military actions in the region.
Since Trump's inauguration in January, he and his billionaire ally, Elon Musk, have significantly reduced the federal workforce, firing over 200,000 employees and seeking to dismantle several agencies.
The administration has also detained many foreign students and threatened to withdraw federal funding from universities that support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, climate efforts, and pro-Palestinian demonstrations. Rights organizations have criticized these policies.
Near the Washington Monument, protesters displayed banners reading: "hate never made any nation great" and "equal rights for all does not mean less rights for you."
Protests also took place in cities such as New York and Chicago, marking the second day of nationwide demonstrations since Trump assumed office.
Additional protests were planned outside Tesla car dealerships to challenge Trump adviser Elon Musk's involvement in downsizing the federal government. Other groups organized community service events such as food drives, teach-ins, and volunteering at shelters.
In another part of D.C., a protest occurred outside U. S. Vice President JD Vance's residence at the U. S. Naval Observatory. The 50501 organizers were also engaged in a mutual aid campaign downtown, collecting food, childcare products, and hygiene supplies.
“Our people are under pressure,” read a flyer for the event. “Laid off, left behind, locked out. Federal workers. Neighbors. Collective family. This isn't new, and we've always had each other. Mutual aid is how we resist. Mutual aid is how we win.”
