Videos from the scene depict fragments of fuselage scattered across a parking lot, with several vehicles consumed by flames. Local news outlet WPVI-TV reported multiple injuries as a result of the crash.
“Our team at Pennsylvania State Police is on the ground assisting local first responders,” Governor Josh Shapiro announced on X. He added, “All Commonwealth resources are available as the response continues, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.”
Lancaster County, known as the heart of America’s Amish Country, is home to tens of thousands who maintain their traditional farming and handicraft lifestyles. However, in recent decades, areas like Manheim have seen significant suburban development.
The incident follows a series of deadly aviation events in the U.S. over the past few months. In January, a collision between a US Army Black Hawk helicopter and a passenger plane over the Potomac River resulted in 67 fatalities. Additionally, a medical jet crash in Philadelphia the same month claimed the lives of seven individuals. February saw the crash of a passenger Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX in Alaska, which resulted in 10 deaths.
