Despite forecasts of warmer weather, snow is still expected in northeastern China
The maximum temperature is set to gradually increase in most regions of China starting Thursday. However, northeastern China is still anticipating snowfall, with some areas potentially facing heavy snow or blizzards, as reported by the National Meteorological Centre.

In northern China's central region, the maximum temperature is projected to reach 10 degrees Celsius over the weekend. In contrast, many southern regions are expected to see maximum temperatures at or above 20 degrees Celsius, according to the center.

Many areas in northeast China's Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces have experienced a sharp temperature decline of over 10 degrees Celsius since Tuesday.

In Hegang City, Heilongjiang, the total snowfall from 8 a.m. on Tuesday to 8 a.m. on Wednesday was recorded at 49.7 millimeters, setting a new local record for single-day snowfall in November. The city has reached a maximum snow depth of 48 centimeters.

Heihe City has reported a snow depth of 45 centimeters, breaking the record for the deepest snow accumulation since weather observations began in 1959.

While snowfall in most parts of Heilongjiang has started to taper off, widespread snowfall is still anticipated on Thursday, alongside significant drops in temperature across the province.

To monitor road conditions, traffic police are patrolling highways and national roads in both directions every 30 kilometers, checking for snow accumulation and icy conditions.

The State Grid Heilongjiang Electric Power Company has deployed drones for manual inspections, conducting line patrols to ensure the safe operation of the power grid amid extreme weather.

This week, the entire Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has been impacted by a cold wave, causing a drop in temperatures.

Minimum temperatures in most areas of the central and eastern parts of the region have plummeted to around minus 13 degrees Celsius, with some locations experiencing lows of minus 18 degrees Celsius.

In the Molidawadawoer Autonomous Banner of Hulunbuir, the blizzard has surpassed 10 millimeters, prompting local traffic authorities to implement temporary road control measures. Additionally, schools in the villages and townships of the banner have suspended classes for the safety of students.

Tuquan County in Xing'an League, a significant agricultural zone in the region, began experiencing snowfall on Monday.

Local farmer Dong Zhi was seen clearing snow off his greenhouse. Before the onset of the cold wave, the county government had sent agricultural technicians to provide guidance on disaster mitigation measures at his greenhouse.

"Under their guidance, I prepared heating blocks and hot-air furnaces in advance and also added film coverings to the greenhouse," Dong mentioned. "Though it is snowing heavily outside, I feel very secure."

The weather forecast indicates that snowfall, possibly even a heavy blizzard, will affect northeastern Inner Mongolia from Wednesday to Thursday, resulting in a temperature drop of 4 to 6 degrees Celsius.
