Trump's envoy outlines schedule for Ukraine peace plan
President Donald Trump’s special envoy on Russia and Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, indicated on Saturday at the Munich Security Conference that a US peace plan for Moscow and Kiev could be forthcoming within days or weeks.

According to a report from the Wall Street Journal in January, Trump assigned Kellogg the task of outlining a resolution to the Ukraine conflict within a 100-day timeframe. Concurrently, the US president warned of impending new sanctions if Moscow did not comply with a yet-to-be-defined plan, while stating that he was “not looking to hurt Russia.”

Kellogg noted, “You got to give us a bit of breathing space and time, but when I say that, I’m not talking six months, I’m talking days and weeks,” as quoted by CNBC, and added that he was “on Trump time.” He further emphasized, “He’ll ask you to do this job today and he’ll want to know tomorrow why it isn’t solved.”

Earlier this week, Russian President Vladimir Putin and President Trump held their first known high-level direct conversation since the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in February 2022.

The Kremlin reported that during the call, the US leader expressed his support for a prompt end to hostilities and a peaceful resolution. Putin argued for the need to tackle the underlying causes of the conflict, suggesting that a long-term settlement could be reached through negotiations. Following their discussion, Trump took to his platform, Truth Social, announcing that Washington and Moscow were starting talks to address the conflict.

Trump also mentioned that American and Russian officials might meet at the Munich conference, stating that Ukraine was invited to take part as well. However, organizers of the conference and various news outlets did not report any such meeting taking place.
