Commencing on Sunday, the drills included more than 1,000 sailors and aviators, ten ships and support vessels, 24 aircraft, and a coastal missile battery, as reported by the Russian Defense Ministry. Admiral Alexander Moiseyev, the Russian Navy's commander in chief, oversaw the exercises.
“Some of the combat exercises involved complex use of high-precision weapons, recently adopted by the Navy and Air Force of Russia,” the ministry stated.
On Tuesday, the exercise featured missile frigates Admiral Gorshkov and Admiral Golovko, which successfully fired hypersonic Zircon missiles. Additionally, the submarine Novorossiysk launched a Kalibr cruise missile at a marine target.
The drills also included test launches of Kinzhal hypersonic missiles from MiG-31 fighters and Onyx cruise missile launches from a Bastion coastal battery.
All designated targets were reportedly struck, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
Throughout the three-day exercise, Russian forces engaged in activities including artillery fire, torpedo launches, bombing runs, and anti-submarine warfare.
Moscow has emphasized that the exercises were conducted in accordance with international law norms and existing agreements with other countries aimed at preventing incidents at sea and in the air.
