Liaoning remain in CBA top 4 following road victory over Beikong
The Liaoning Flying Leopards triumphed over the Beikong Royal Fighters 115-100 in a road game in Beijing on Wednesday night. They continue to hold fourth place, a ranking that could secure them a bye in the first round of the Chinese Basketball Association playoffs if they maintain this position.

In the first quarter, multiple players from Liaoning hit three-pointers, helping the team build a 10-point lead by the end of the period, finishing at 29-19. Dez Wells and Fu Hao consistently delivered scoring as the second quarter got underway. In contrast, Beikong struggled with a two-minute scoring drought, causing their deficit to widen to 14 points at 35-21.

Beikong's challenges escalated after Grant Riller was sidelined. The team struggled with turnovers on offense, and their defense failed to keep up. After Zhao Jiwei hit a three-pointer, Liaoning surged ahead 62-40.

The hosts appeared to regain their offensive momentum in the second half, with contributions from Zhang Fan, Liao Sanning, and Riller as they aggressively attacked Liaoning’s defense. However, they still allowed Liaoning to score with relative ease. After Li Xiaoxu sank his only three-pointer of the game in the fourth quarter, the visitors extended their lead to as much as 29 points at 97-68. By that point, the outcome was all but decided as Liaoning confirmed their 31st win of the season. Zhao, who tallied 19 points, crossed the milestone of 5,000 career points.

In the other two games played that night, the Qingdao Eagles defeated the Shanghai Sharks 119-107 at home. Although Shanghai led 64-58 in the first half, the ejection of Kenneth Lofton in the third quarter shifted the momentum of the match. Qingdao outscored Shanghai 61-43 in the second half, marking Shanghai’s second consecutive loss.

Additionally, the Shandong Kirin secured a resounding 116-79 victory against the Xinjiang Flying Tigers at home, lengthening their winning streak to six games. Their tenacious defense limited the visitors to just 17 and 14 points in the third and fourth quarters, respectively, ensuring a dominant win.
