China Enhances Combat Capabilities of J-35A Jet with Advanced Technology
China's newly unveiled J-35A stealth fighter is making its first appearance at the ongoing Airshow China in Zhuhai, a southern coastal city. According to the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force, the fighter is fitted with a domestically produced engine and incorporates a human-machine interaction design that optimizes its combat capabilities.
During a press conference held alongside the airshow, PLA Air Force spokesperson Xie Peng stated that the J-35A, featuring a homegrown engine, is a significant addition to the fighter aircraft fleet of the PLA Air Force.
Air Force officer Li Lanxing mentioned that pilots have reported high maneuverability during test flights, noting the excellent handling and user-friendly human-machine interaction, which contribute to its full combat effectiveness.
Li also indicated that the focus of J-35A test flights is increasingly shifting towards real combat scenarios, placing a greater emphasis on combat effectiveness.
Wang Yongqing, chief expert at the Shenyang Aircraft Design and Research Institute of the Aviation Industry Corporation of China, asserted that the fighter jet possesses strong joint combat capabilities. AVIC serves as the primary contractor for the development of China's aviation weapons and equipment.
Wang explained that the J-35A's information and system architecture is designed for seamless interoperability, providing robust standalone combat capabilities and facilitating coordination with other battlefield assets, thereby opening new possibilities for future missions.
In contrast to the J-20, a heavy stealth fighter primarily engineered for air superiority, the J-35A is a medium-sized multi-role stealth fighter adept at both air superiority and strike missions against ground and maritime targets.
Military expert Wang Mingzhi commented in an interview with Xinhua that the combination of the J-20 and J-35A bolsters the Air Force's capacity to carry out offensive operations in high-threat and contested environments.
Wang concluded, "The successful development of the J-35A has enabled China to possess two types of stealth fighter jets, providing the Air Force with enhanced capabilities to safeguard the country's sovereignty, security and territorial integrity."
